Dorothy Olmos - Republican Speaks: . TAYLOR: How important is good leadership during times of crisis? OLMOS: The importance of good leadership during crisis is to uphold the value system of brotherhod/sisterhood and to be aware of the effectiveness of the Strategic plans that are put in place, in order to convey and deliver the correct rules and regulations setforth during a crisis. TAYLOR: Do you consider yourself to be a leader? If so, in what way? OLMOS: Yes, Iconsider myself a leader because I have life experience as well as education and work experience that has been the basis of what I have strived for in the community. And through all of my experience as a mother, grandmother, business woman (entrepreneur) I am qualified to resolve, create and author pieces of legislation that affects our community, Dist.143 and the State of Texas. TAYLOR: Other than yourself, who is the most effective leader you know alive today? OLMOS: The most effective leader that I know alive today is my father. Mr. Adalberto B. Olmos has had over 45 years of leadership skills that he self taught himself. He was the first Hispanic Mass Transit City of Houston Inspector during the 1970's and the first Union organizer of (AFCME) American Federation of County/Municipal Employees in the late 1950's early 1960"s and (GURU) community leader of the East End Magnolia area for decades. I have high respect for what my father has done along side my mother who is deceased since, 1992, which he contributed almost a half a century to the City of Houston with no acknowlwdgement. TAYLOR: Why should Harris County-area voters choose you on Tuesday, November 4th? OLMOS: The Harris county voters should choose my candidacy because I, Dorothy Olmos have assisted many people in crisis for over 25 years aside from raising my own 4 children. I have taught At-Risk High School students in the 1990"s and I continue to assist people on a daily basis with Problem Resolutions. I have been a business owner for over 30 years in rental renovation and rental properties, owned Hair salons and now I have a multi-service office that is assisting the community. That is why I know that I am the people's choice to be State Rep Dist. 143. I am a conservative leader who believes in family values and that can lead the community in a positive and new vision of success. |
