Justo Perez - Libertarian Speaks: TAYLOR: How important is good leadership during times of crisis? PEREZ: Obviously important, but it really depends on the type of crisis. In most cases its best to simply get out of the way. TAYLOR: Do you consider yourself to be a leader? If so, in what way? PEREZ: In political terms yes, but only to the extent that I'm willing to run for a political position. I trust that people are better at making choices than having someone lead them into bigger government and less freedom. TAYLOR: Other than yourself, who is the most effective leader you know alive today? PEREZ: Effective? I'd say Oprah has been an effective leader, but to what purpose? Castro, Obama, McCain, Bush, etc. But to what purpose? And since the question limits the answer to Éeffective leaders alive today, I'd have to say the average Joe is the most effective leader. Average Joe provides for his family, loves his kids, minds his own business and takes out the trash. He leads by example and less talk. He is effective because he produces wealth by doing his part as he seeks to make a living for himself and his family. In his quest for self preservation and a better standard of living, he conveys a secondary benefits to others who in turn depend (make a living) on his consumption choices. There are many Joe's among us - if we could simply get government out of the way; if we could stop using taxation as a social engineering tool; if we could stop the redistribution of wealth and entitlements, all the Joe's could achieve full effective leadership in their own lives. TAYLOR: Why should Harris County-area voters choose you on Tuesday, November 4th? PEREZ: Not just me, but any Libertarian candidate would be a better choice than a Democrat or Republican. They should choose me if they are fiscally conservative and socially liberal. In other words, if they want to keep Government out of their wallet and out of their bedrooms, vote Libertarian (any Libertarian will do). |

Taylor), to tell Harris County area voters why they should choose them on Election Day. |
