Richie Party Chairman TAYLOR: How important is good leadership during times of crisis? CHAIRMAN RICHIE: It is clear Americans and Texans are currently suffering as we face multiple crises on different fronts. Whether it is dealing with economic, healthcare, or national security issues, good leadership is necessary for our society to get through these difficult times. Level headed leadership is crucial in order to see the predicament through the end and to make certain all possible scenarios have been played out. Politicians, like our current failed Republican leaders, who shoot from the hip and continue to ignore the best interest of our citizens while protecting their special interest friends, have forgotten their job description representing their constituents. I am confident our Democratic candidates will finally return responsible and sensible leadership to our government. TAYLOR: Do you consider yourself to be a leader? If so, in what way? CHAIRMAN RICHIE: While I may be the elected leader of the Texas Democratic Party, my executive authority is limited. Like our government, authority is given to our elected representatives of the State Democratic Executive Committee. Additionally, we have a set of bylaws that govern our Party. TAYLOR: Other than yourself, who is the most effective leader you know alive today? CHAIRMAN RICHIE: Some of our most effective leaders can be found in Texas’ very own State Legislature. Our Democratic members in both the Texas House of Representatives and the Texas Senate have led the fight to protect the best interests of Texans. Whether it is providing a quality education, access to affordable quality healthcare, or trying to keep out energy costs low, our Democratic Legislators are on the front lines fighting for and protecting our families. TAYLOR: Why should Harris County-area voters choose Democratic candidates on Tuesday, November 4th? CHAIRMAN RICHIE: Our Democratic candidates are qualified and ready to finally return responsible leadership to our government, especially in Harris County. Scandal plagued Republican politicians in Harris County have disgraced the offices they were elected to represent and have also insulted their constituents.
