Chad Khan (Candidate for State House District 126) Talks to Houston Business Connections: Tells Publisher Aubrey R. Taylor why Harris County area voters should choose him in the Nov. 7, 2006, General Election KHAN: "My campaign is about the issues that real people face every day: supporting small business, expanding healthcare coverage, and improving public education. As state representative, I will work to relieve the burden on small businesses so more Texans can work hard and get ahead. I don't think small business owners should have to shoulder the cost of a short-sighted, election year spending package. We need leaders in Austin who will work together to craft long-term solutions to the serious problems we face as a state. Texas leads the nation in the number of uninsured. One out of every four people in the state has no health insurance. Not only is this a public health crisis, but it increases the burden on those who do have insurance. We have a moral obligation to provide basic healthcare to our most vulnerable the young, the elderly, and the needy. Texas ranks at or near the bottom in nearly every measurable statistic regarding public education. Those who want to spend our public tax money for vouchers to send children to private schools would be robbing our public school system. Millions of Texas families could be living their dreams if they had a state government that was more responsive, more efficient, and that was dedicated to finding practical solutions to the very real problems the citizens of this state face every day. I am the only candidate who understands and represents the hard-working mainstream of District 126, and that's why we will win in November." |
