Shelley Sekula-Gibbs (Candidate for U.S. Congress Distict 22) announces her intention to seek Republican support as the write-in candidate in the November 7th General Election

SEKULA-GIBBS: "After prayerful consideration, I am announcing I will seek the Republican Party's support to be its write-in candidate for Congressional District 22. I have openly campaigned for this seat since April, and am fully committed to run hard to win in November.

As a top contender for this seat, I agree the Republican Party should unite behind one candidate to defeat the liberal Democrat machine that attempts to deny the voters of CD 22 a Republican nominee on the ballot.

I have lived in CD 22 for more than 20 years, raised my family and built my medical practice, working side-by-side with neighbors throughout the district to build consensus and to move our party and our community forward.

I have fought for the Republican Party and its core principles of limited government and individual freedom. I will continue to champion conservative values and Keep 22 Republican."

Bob Smither (Candidate for U.S. Congress Distict 22) Talks to Houston Business Connections: Tells Publisher Aubrey R. Taylor why Harris County area voters should choose him in the Nov. 7, 2006, General Election

SMITHER: "My campaign is based on "Constitutional Integrity", by which I mean a return by the federal government to the wisdom and limits of our Constitution. Many of the problems we face today are the result of the federal government exceeding the clear limits established in Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution. The Founders envisioned a society in which social and political issues were resolved first at the local level, then at the state level, and only rarely and only in carefully circumscribed situations at the federal level. There was a reason for this. Government that is closer to the people is more responsive, less intrusive, and more efficient.

A return to Constitutional limits will make our federal government much smaller, less expensive, and less destructive than it is today.

My pledge to the voters in District 22 is simple: I will work to defend and expand the rights and liberty of all American citizens and I will not vote to fund any program of the federal government that is not clearly authorized by our Constitution."
