Drew Parks (Candidate for U.S. Congress Distict 7) Talks to Houston Business Connections: Tells Publisher Aubrey R. Taylor why Harris County voters should choose him in the Nov. 7, 2006, General Election PARKS: "I'm a 56 year old research designer at the University of Houston. I work with high temperature superconductors and their magnetic applications. I have authored dozens of technical and scientific publications. Prior to working at the university I was a laboratory director in an environmental lab. I am a Vietnam veteran, who served with honor in the Strategic Air Command. I've run in the 7th congressional district since 1998, stressing privacy, limited government, and personal responsibility. When the Republicans and Democrats get together, there is a fight over who gets the most pork. Libertarians are serious about limiting the size and reach of big government. We believe we can save over 50% -eliminating or moving unconstitutional Federal programs to the state level, where many programs overlap. If you are not happy with the status-quo of your representatives spending like drunken sailors, then register your dissatisfaction and vote Libertarian whenever you can. Big government is eroding our privacy as the Federal government sets up databases to monitor our transactions, cameras to watch us on the freeways and in the intersections, programs to screen internet surfing and read our email, monitor phone calls, and even datamine medical records. If elected, my first bill would make the reading of someone else's email without a warrant a federal offense with penalties equivalent to illegally reading other's postal mail. Some say that privacy isn't a right. If you don't believe you can have freedom without privacy, then vote for me. Privacy is a right!" |
