Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (Re-Election) Talks to Houston Business Connections: Tells Publisher Aubrey R. Taylor why Harris County voters should choose her in the Nov. 7, 2006, General Election

SENATOR HUTCHISON: "I am a Senator For All Texans. I proudly voted for the 2003 tax relief legislation that stimulated our economy and reduced the federal deficit in half. I am leading the fight to make tax-relief permanent for hard working families and to abolish the "Death Tax".

To help ensure our children succeed in an increasingly competitive global environment, I've created the Academy of Medicine, Engineering and Science of Texas to promote science and research in the state. I've also secured millions of dollars to help upgrade facilities at Texas' Hispanic-Serving Institutions of higher education and historically black colleges.

I have always been and always will be a staunch supporter of a strong national defense and our troops. As Chairman of the Military Construction and Veteran Affairs Subcommittee, and Recipient of the American Legion's Distinguished Public Service Award, I have secured additional funding for veterans benefits, and successfully fought to protect Texas' military bases from the Base Realignment and Closure commission.

I'm proud of my efforts to ensure NASA has the resources necessary to meet the challenges of the future and to ensure Houston keeps its mark on the space program.

I have also co-sponsored the National Amber Alert network, amended the Internal Revenue Service to create Homemaker IRA's, and worked hard to ensure Texas got its fair share of Hurricane Relief Funding."

Barbara Ann Radnofsky (Candidate for U.S. Senator) Talks to Houston Business Connections: Tells Publisher Aubrey R. Taylor why Harris County area voters should choose her in the Nov. 7, 2006, General Election

RADNOFSKY: "I'm a wife, mother, teacher, mediator and, for the past 27 years, a Houston lawyer.

I'm running to serve in the US Senate and make a positive difference in our great country where our taxpayer dollars are wasted and stolen. My website www.radnofsky.com charts my specific proposals and positions contrasted to my opponents, under whose congressional leadership Texas has suffered, ranking per capita 49th in transportation dollars and 51st in government largesse. The failure of the employer based health insurance model is now clear, and represents a danger to business, consumers, health care providers and patients. The deficit and account deficit present a national economic and security danger. As the daughter and granddaughter of injured veterans, I believe strongly that our veterans and military personnel have been deserted by the country they have so loyally served.

The proposals found at www.radnofsky.com cover many major issues, including pay-as-you-go, mechanisms to save our tax dollars and curb corruption, an independent ethics commission with subpoeana power, public financing of elections, permitting negotiations for prescription drug pricing, school peer mediation programs and a VA Hospital south of San Antonio.

I know how to represent people, I know fow to fight for people and I know how to bring people together."

Scott Lanier Jameson (Candidate for U.S. Senator) Talks to Houston Business Connections: Tells Publisher Aubrey R. Taylor why Harris County voters should choose him in the Nov. 7, 2006, General Election

JAMESON: "Libertarians are the only fiscally conservative political party. We believe in a constitutionally-limited federal government, and one that is transparent and accountable to the people. As your U.S. Senator, I would support and introduce legislation to dramatically cut taxes and spending, while making certain that our nation remains secure. I believe the dignity and sovereignty of the individual should always be preserved, even as we work together to refine our social contract and provide for the common defense. One priority legislative initiative would be to introduce a bill to allow for a public review period of all bills before they can be voted on in Congress. Another initiative would be to eliminate the personal income tax system. As a leader from Texas, I would never waste the time of the people or the U.S. Senate with frivolous debate over politically volatized issues - like flag burning or increasing fines for broadcasters. This country needs leadership focused on maximizing the efficiency of public institutions while minimizing or negating their interference with our freedoms and liberties. Life is too precious to be wasted trying to comply in good faith with an income tax system any tyrant would be proud to claim.

We must have a government of institutions, programs, and budget controls that champion the best of our values and technologies. Government servants must always remain ethical, accountable, and frugal. I would be proud to accept your vote for me in November to act as a public fiduciary in the U.S. Senate."
